Making Bold Brave Decisions to Future-Proof the Team…a Blog by Leah Seltzer

Leah Seltzer

A little under a week ago, my brilliant ‘second-in-command’ colleague set off on the next big bold adventure of her life. It prompted me to make some bold decisions too that would mean our paths would meet again. Kate, who has been by my side now for around four years (and very highly thought of within our business), has gone off on maternity leave until 2018…when I write that in actual numeric facts - it makes me shudder. I am assured by most parents who have had maternity or paternity leave that the time they are out of their business role and learning to handle their new life is fast. […]

High Heel Hitches in the Work Place…a Blog by Sophie Cecil

The news channels we are tuned into this month are all discussing a really hot topic that has been central to women working since the time when…well women started working. What to wear in the office, what size heel, colour lipstick, hairstyle and beyond. Following the government report ‘High Heels and Workplace Dress Codes’ by the parliamentary committees for Petition and for Women and Equalities, our leading sector publication – Recruiter released a very interesting statement warning recruiters to review their dress code policy wording so neither gender are discriminated against. I […]

A big THANK YOU for the Mr X Appeal Donations 2016

This year marks the fourth anniversary of the New Directions group of companies’ involvement with the ‘Mr X Appeal’. This appeal works to deliver gifts to children and young people across South Wales who will not have as much as others this festive period. In 2013 when we first started working to support this initiative, we loaded up one of our pool cars with presents and proudly drove the 40 miles down the M4 to the drop off point to add our offering. Well…fast forward to 2016 and we have had to recruit the services of Cardiff Bay Office Furniture – one of our own brilliant suppliers […]

#AntiBullyingWeek – Ruth Dalton, Group Head of Communications and Marketing – A Blog

#AntiBullyingWeek #PowerForGood For a creative type I adore statistics. I even had a bash at A-Level Statistics, it was a while back…but I recall I didn’t fair too badly. Numbers and the certainty and solidness of what they offer when negotiating in the workplace or at home give me confidence. This week is Anti-Bullying Week in association with the Anti-Bullying Alliance, a charity we as an organisation partner with to help raise awareness and eradicate the whole problem. We also work to support the plight of the NSPCC…whose website I visited in order to delve into some meaty statistics […]
