New Year, New You… #Sharonspeaks

So here we are again at the start of another year. What will 2017 afford us? New partner, new house, children, a trip of a life time…or perhaps a new job, a new career or a new challenge.

2016 was quite the year for New Directions. We started on a high with our Compliance Team being named ‘Team of the Year’ at the international ‘Women in Compliance’ Awards, we then negotiated ‘Recruiter of the Year’ at the Regional Awards and finally received our ‘Employer of the Year (under 250 staff)’ accolade at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) led IRP Awards.

However, as we all know working in recruitment – you are only as good as your next week, month and year. So with this in mind I have been reflecting on what I want to see for New Directions Commercial driving through January and into the rest of the year. It’s quite simple really:

1) Good, honest, open and consultative relationships with all of our clients and candidates. We want you to be honest with us…warts and all, permitting that you will let us deliver the same level of honesty. Tell us your top five for your wish list of best candidate or best job. We’ll be entirely frank if we know that having a ‘horse-drawn cart to work’ isn’t in most benefits packages offered by employers. Similarly asking for staff that can deliver at 100 mph every day, all day and produce golden eggs isn’t always an option.
There – we said it…honesty.

2) Consistent contact and communication…after all aren’t all recruiters renowned for this? Ha. We mean it though; building on the spirit of honesty, let’s stay in touch. If another agency has filled your role – tell us, if you found another job or prefer to stay just where you are, let us know. Similarly we’ll be point blank honest about any feedback from either applicant or employer.

3) No time wasting – we pledge to send no employer recruiting for a Finance Manager the details of an ambitious Finance Assistant. Similarly, let’s not take new candidates and square peg, round hole them. If you want to be client side not candidate, we’ll do that – reception, not back office – let’s help make you shine.
Time is precious, we won’t waste yours.

These are my three pledges to start the year – I’ll add to them I am sure. I want anyone who works with New Directions Commercial to have the right experience – in every respect, for the job, for the candidate…but mostly through your journey with our team. Here’s to 2017 and strengthening your workforce to an even more productive force to be reckoned with than ever before.
