Production Team Leader



Our manufacturing client is looking to recruit a Production Team Leader for their established production facility.

The successful candidate will lead a team of operators and ensure the smooth running of the production process ensuring all products are produced to the required quality specifications and production output quantities, on target on time.

You will be required to manage start of shift meetings including safety, quality, cost, plan, delivery, people and issues. As a Team Leader you will follow best practice to improve area and team using continuous improvement techniques, team training and leading improvement projects

  • Follow Team Leaders check list as required ensuring PPE is worn and team are following company H&S procedures
  • Manage housekeeping in area ensuring it’s a safe place to work
  • Assist in the induction process and training of all new production employees, ensuring that all safe system of work are followed at all times.
  • Incident reporting, complete investigations with preventative measures that are communicated
  • Accidents, complete investigations with preventative measures that are communicated
  • Conducting toolbox talks as required including writing, presenting and filing following best practice.
  • Ensuring that all safety training records are maintained and updated where applicable


  • Responsible for Team Leaders check list and completes quality checks for completed products and timber as required, normally first off inspections and hourly checks
  • To ensure all employees are trained and aware of quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Rejected pallets are controlled and repaired following sites process and any scrap timber is recorded correctly
  • Conducting toolbox talks as required including writing, presenting and filing following best practice.


  • Ensure the smooth running of the production processes by supporting the management team with the management of staff, production and targets.
  • Start of shift meetings including safety, quality, cost, plan, delivery, people and issues
  • Shift handovers are complete and effective ensuring the next shift are ready to run
  • Be able to make appropriate decisions while following the company’s organisational structure
  • Monitor, measure and report on production related process performance, general issues


  • Review and keep visual management boards updated
  • Ensures company database is accurately updated as per process and procedures
  • Ensure piece rates are correct and store data correctly following process and procedures
  • Review stock supply on the line and ensure zero stock outs
  • Pre-preparation for set ups and change over to reduce downtime
  • Lead the teams on improvements and report each period on performance improvements
  • Liaise with Managers for specific PPM activities


  • Engage with team to ensure good staff morale
  • Coach and mentor team
  • Team training matrix is current and regularly updated and ensure gaps are filled after review training plan with Manager

  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on manufacturing activities
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance production quality and capacity
  • Problem solving and troubling shooting skills are used to ensure fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.
  • To ensure you and your team are always wearing the issued Scott Group uniform during working hours
