Over 600 young people will take part in the 25th Anniversary of the Christmas Extravaganza Concert at the Newport Centre on Friday 2 December at 6pm.

The Christmas Extravaganza will feature orchestras, bands and ensembles from schools and groups across Newport and represents the wide diversity of musical talent in the city.

Beginning with traditional Christmas carols, there will be displays of wind music from the Newport Music Centre Wind Band, Taiko Drumming from the children of Marshfield Primary School, the Greater Gwent Schools brass band and the 220 strong Newport Schools Choir.

The event will also feature the Isca Linea Symphonia who will close the show with a spectacular performance of Live and Let Die.

The Christmas Extravaganza is organised by Gwent Music Support Service in conjunction with St. Woolos Newport Rotary Club and Newport City Council. This partnership has flourished over a number of years with the St Woolos Rotary Club supporting music-making in Newport while at the same time raising money for various charities.
