On Sunday 26th August 2012 Woodchurch Villa Junior Football Club held a fundraising family fun day. Over 70 people attended the event which aimed to raise both money and profile for the team.

The club was established in 2010, with Coaches Paul Morrissey running the under 11’s and Jason Caffery taking charge of the under 12 team. Woodchurch Villa aims to create an open environment for youngsters from all backgrounds who want to play football.

The event received excellent sponsorship from the local community. Sue Porter Funeral Services sponsored the under 11’s team, whilst the under 12’s team received sponsorship from Wirral Partnership Homes. Catering was provided by Emma Ashcroft, Team Secretary. Donation towards the food came from Asda.

Event organiser Paul Morrissey said of the day ‘A big thank you to all of our sponsors, we want the young people of Woodchurch to continue to have the opportunity to get involved in team sports.’

New Directions Education is a recruitment and training provider to the Wirral region, Lisa Harper, Branch Manager for the team said of the day ‘The day was a real success, there was a really lovely atmosphere surrounding the event. Many of the children attend local schools – St Michaels and All Angels RC Primary and Woodchurch High. We were delighted to support such a worthwhile cause.’
