New Directions Supporting Student Teachers Across South Wales

Posted on

Being a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) can be both an exciting and daunting time, and we understand that new teachers are keen to secure a permanent teaching post as soon as possible. With the current economic realities and so many excellent teachers now searching for permanent posts, many teachers find their first teaching positions are of a temporary nature rather than permanent.

New Directions Education is one of the largest education recruitment and training specialists in the UK. In 2012 we were selected as master vendor for Wales after a selection procedure involving 20 other companies. This means we are now the preferred supplier of staff to the education sector throughout Wales.

New Directions is working closely with schools throughout South Wales to help support PGCE teachers during their placement and early on in their teaching career, and sign post them to suitable appointments. Supply teaching is an ideal interim opportunity to develop teacher’s skills and broaden their experience and very often, supply teaching leads to long-term and permanent teaching posts.

With the support of our schools, we hope to spend a short amount of time (approximately 30 minutes) with students where we can discuss the benefits of working on supply. Within this time slot we will provide feedback from other NQTs who have found long-term and even permanent positions as a direct result of working on a supply basis. We want this session to be positive, informative and inspiring.

We have a team of dedicated Account Managers and support staff including ex Head Teachers who can not only provide information about supply teaching, but can also give help and advice relating to CV writing, application forms and interviews. We believe we can help increase opportunities for NQTs, ready for work in September 2013.
