Students at Glan y Mor in Burry Port visited Slovakia during March as part of the Schools European Project.

The project called Lost in Translation promotes learning about life and cultures in other countries and is funded by the European Commission.

Four year 10 pupils and 2 Teachers visited Glan y Mors partner school in Vranov nad Topl’ou Slovakia, to learn about and experience their culture.

The pupils involved had an amazing experience and learned some wonderful facts about Slovakian culture and lifestyle. The pupils stayed with local families and attended lessons in the School daily.

Another eagerly anticipated trip is planned to the Czech Republic in October.

Michelle Pengelly, Account Manager for New Directions Education comments ‘Part of the learning journey for all students has to take place outside of the classroom. The opportunity for the Glan Y Mor was unquestionably fantastic. After almost a decade of supporting the education community in Swansea, we have witnessed first hand the benefits of off site learning.’

New Directions Education was appointed as preferred supplier of staff to the education sector in Wales in 2012. The business continues to evolve to support their partner schools, to help ensure that the future of education in Wales continues to thrive.
