Happy 100th Birthday Llanhari Primary School

Posted on

On Thursday 25th and 26th April the pupils and staff of Llanhari Primary celebrated the 100th anniversary of the school. Over the last couple of weeks the pupils have been learning about local history, not only within the classroom but by involving the entire community. The celebrations consisted of street parties of Edwardian style, fancy dress and an “It’s A Knock Out” football competition, arranged by New Directions Education with a twenty pound gift voucher for the winning pupil. It was a tightly fought final between Sadie Kemp and Ethan Pennington, with Ethan becoming the overall winner.

Gez Parker, Account Manager for Rhondda Cynon Taff commented “We were really proud as an organisation to be invited to help celebrate this important milestone in the community of Llanhari. The pupils who participated in the events seemed to have really enjoyed the “It’s A Knock Out”, and I look forward to not only working closely with Llanhari but all schools and communities in RCT”

Headteacher Emma Coates also commented “I would like to thank Gez and Kelly for their time and use of the inflatable, enabling the children to have a wonderful start to the school centenary celebrations. The winning child was delighted to receive his prize, courtesy of New Directions.”

On the 4th May, Llanhari Primary will also be involved in a local community fun day, including live music and a classic car show as well as other stalls and attractions.

New Directions wishes Llanhari Primary and the local community, another successful and happy 100 years.
