New Directions Celebrates World Autism Day

Posted on

World Autism Awareness day celebrated its 6th annual event on the 2nd April 2013. This involves autism organisations through-out the world organising events to help raise both money and awareness for autism.

This year the SEN team within New Directions Education organised a dress down day where each member of staff paid £1 for the privilege and also played a game of ‘guess how many eggs’ to keep in with Easter. We raised £89 in total with our colleague Elen Davies from our Pharmacy department winning the chocolate eggs who to the delight of her colleague’s kindly shared them throughout the office.

The money raised has been donated to Cymru Autism which is Wales’ own national charity for autism. Some of the numerous services provided by the charity include:

  • The World Annual Online Autism Conference
  • Bi-lingual information booklets
  • Delivering a training and education programme throughout Wales

A cheque was presented to Gareth Morgan from Autism Cymru by SEN Branch Manager Jon Evans who stated ‘We are extremely proud to support such a worthy course’.
