Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Conference – Venue Cymru Llandudno

Sam Pilling, Account Manager and Robert Ratcliffe, Business Development Officer from New Directions Education attended the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) conference last week at Venue Cymru Llandudno.

The conference was an opportunity for members of ASCL involved in the North Wales Education sector to meet and discuss pertinent topics. The conference this year focused on qualification reform and qualification and the Welsh Baccalaureate.

New Directions Education has a long standing partnership with ASCL in Wales providing sponsorship of events and also engaging with other members on the challenges of the education in the current climate. Sam Pilling, Account Manager at New Directions commented ‘I have attended the ASCL conference many times, I feel it is imperative for us to attend events like this to truly understand the sector here in Wales. We look to be a partner to the sector and feel working closely with the education sector ensures that not only are we well informed, we are also abreast of changes’

During the course of the day there were many presentations delivered from various bodies of the Welsh Government including

  • Jo Trott – Head of Review of the National Curriculum and Assessment DfeS
  • Andrew Clark – Deputy Director Further Education and Apprenticeship  Division DfES
