Eveswell Primary in Newport have a reason to celebrate this week, as their caretaker Anthony Trigg has recently been nominated for an award at the ‘Newport Night of Honour Awards’.

The awards are now in their third year recognise people and organisations that have gone out of their way to help others. Anthony was nominated by one of the parents at the school for the ‘Public Service Superhero Award’. Anthony was nominated for not only ensuring that the school ran smoothly but for the rapport he has built with the children and parents at the school.

Anthony commented on the surprise nomination ‘my daily duties include greeting the children at the school gates in a morning and I like to greet them with a high-five. It puts a smile on their faces. I am thrilled to be nominated for the award ‘

Rachel Bourne, Ancillary Account Manager at New Directions Education added ‘All staff at Eveswell Primary are committed to doing the best they can for the children in their care. More often than not they feel they are just doing their job, however it is vital to recognise individuals who go above and beyond to help someone else. We are sure Anthony will do well at the awards ceremony being held later this month, we wish him all the best’
