New Directions Education Donate a Day to St Asaph Infant School

Posted on

As part of New Directions Educations ‘Donate a Day Campaign’ staff have been leaving their desks behind for the day to help out at a local school. On the 01st October Rebecca Macintyre, Primary Account Manager from the Wrexham Branch, volunteered to be a Teaching Assistant at St. Asaph V.P Infants.

Rebecca works closely with the schools in North Wales recruiting staff to fill  vacancies so has a good understanding of what the role of a teaching assistant involves, however Rebecca felt that donating a day to a local school would not only benefit the school but also give her real hands on experience of working at a school.

Rebecca commented ‘I love children and spending time with them so for me this was always going to be an enjoyable day. The school I volunteered in for ‘Donate a Day’ was a lovely school based in the small City of St. Asaph. During the day, I conducted one to one reading with the children and they all tried really hard, they where all at different levels of reading and I really enjoyed supporting them throughout the day. Working within the school made me appreciate how hard teachers and teaching assistants work on a daily basis.

Nicola Blythin Head Teacher added ‘Rebecca was a great help within the school, she listened to the children read and she was lovely with them. Rebecca is welcome back any time’

New Directions Education would like to thank Nicola Blythin and all at St Asaph for providing Rebecca the opportunity to work at the school.
