New Directions Liverpool Support Wirral Girl’s Tranmere Football Tournament

Tranmere Rovers annual girls football tournament kicks off today at 4.00pm, the first match of the tournament will be hosted by Weatherhead High School. This annual event has grown stronger every year and now includes local secondary schools as well as local primary schools.

New Directions Education in Liverpool is sponsoring the tournament for the  second year running. The event is an opportunity for girls from local schools to showcase their footballing skills. The tournament also encourages girls to take part in the sport.

New Directions Education works closely with schools and local communities to support and encourage youngsters in a variety of different initiatives, supporting the Tranmere Rovers tournament is just one of the ways we do this.

Lisa Harper Branch Manager at New Directions Education in Liverpool commented “the Tranmere Rovers Football tournament is an amazing opportunity for local children to play football against the best teams in their area,  as well as sponsoring the tournament we also regularly attend matches  to cheer on the teams. The football is always to a high standard, and the teams get better every year.”

The schools taking part in the tournament are excited by the prospect of the tournament have pledged their support to their local teams:

New Directions Education Account Manager Mike Childs who is involved in the tournament this year for the first time added “Its exciting to be involved in such an event that gets the community involved and in meeting the schools and some of the teams that are taking part in the tournament. Everybody is looking forward to being involved in the tournament and I am keen to see how the competition evolves and the stars that shine with them winning goals. I think what Tranmere Rovers are doing is a brilliant scheme, I will be at the matches to support the teams and cheer everybody on”

The kick Off is at 4pm today at Weatherhead High School Astro Turf, don’t be late to see the start. New Directions will be there to support and cheer the girls on!
