Brynhafren Primary School near Shrewsbury, held a carol concert at Alberbury St. Michael and All Angels Church on 17th December, to raise money for the Severn Hospice, based in Shrewsbury.

The carol concert included solo performances by pupils from Year 5 and 6 classes and group performances by other year groups. The children sang over 22 hymns which were not only sang in Welsh but German as well. Headteacher, Dave Lambourne also got involved with the festivities by not just joining in with the singing and playing instruments, but by dressing up as Father Christmas much to the amusement of the school children and attendees.

The church was full to the brim, with every pew and additional seat taken by parents, children, and fellow church goers. It was a welcome sight to see everyone so happy and joyous, and the entire ambience was that of fun and laughter.

Melissa Penlington, Account Manager at New Directions Education who works closely with the school commented “it is touching to hear that the school held this concert to raise money for the Severn hospice, the concert was enjoyed by all who attended and the money raised as result of the concert will go a long way to helping the severn hospice. The school raised £500 for the hospice in total, well done to the teachers and pupils of Brynhafren for all their hard work”
