High Achiever Awards Celebrations – The Crusaders v Workington Town

On Sunday 27th July 2014, local education recruitment and training specialists New Directions attended the Crusaders’ rugby match against Workington Town.

The match was set up to celebrate the end of the recent High Achiever Awards which New Directions sponsored along with Glyndwr University, Eagles Meadow and Tesco.

The awards were set up to reward and recognise the young people of Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire for their hard work, tenacity and compassion. The awards celebrated young people in categories such as: Community Volunteer, Sporting Prowess, Academic Achievement, Creative Genius, Science & Innovation, Young Brave Heart, One to Watch, and Heart of Gold.

Speaking about the awards which took place at the William Aston Hall at Glyndwr University on July 17th 2014, Jenna Whittam, Branch Manager for New Directions said ‘the awards ceremony was very emotional, and I was 100% encouraged by the winners and their stories that the future of North Wales is in good hands’.

Sundays match which saw Workington Town beat The Crusaders by 8-4, was a final celebration for the end of the 2014 awards. The New Directions gang also worked on the day to raise money for the charity ‘Beating Bowel Cancer’ raising a total of £273.04. Rob Ratcliffe, Business Development Office for the team said of the efforts ‘I am delighted once more to be able to raise much needed funds for this wonderful charity. It is a cause so very close to my heart; I lost my own son Jonny to the horrible disease. So a very big thanks to all of those who dug deep’.

The New Directions team who recruit for schools and colleges across North Wales are already looking forward to next year’s awards.
