Pupils and staff at seven Denbighshire primary schools took part in a gruelling triathlon.

The teams, cheered on by parents and members of the public, competed in junior and senior races at Rhyl’s Marine Lake.

The participating schools – Ysgol Christchurch, Ysgol Mair, Ysgol Llywelyn, Ysgol Emmanuel, Ysgol Bryn Hedydd, Ysgol Tir Morfa and Ysgol Dewi Sant, all in Rhyl, and Ysgol y Castell in Rhuddlan, held their own triathlons during the week.

Two pupils from every school then went on to compete in an elite triathlon at Marine Lake, with teachers from each school also competing in a ‘fun’ triathlon.

All pupils raised money through sponsorship to go to Ty Gobaith children’s hospice.

New Directions donated £50 cheques to Ysgol Christchurch and also Ysgol Bryn Hedydd by Rebecca Macintyre and Sarah Baker.
