St John the Baptist Raise Funds for Children in Need

Every year schools across the UK work hard to raise funds for the annual Children in Need drive. This year was no different for St John the Baptist School in Aberdare. The school hosted a week of events that seen a total of £2,430 raised for the charity.

Speaking about the schools efforts Yasmin Madhloom, Account Manager for New Directions Education said ‘every year we wait to hear about the efforts our schools go to in raising cash for Children in Need. This year St John the Baptist have really gone above and beyond. I want to personally congratulate the all of the pupils and staff at the school. It is so inspiring to see such efforts made on behalf of those less fortunate’.

Events throughout the course of the week included:

Monday 10th November – pupils v staff Bodyball match
Tuesday 11th Nov – pupils v staff Netball match
Wednesday 12th Nov – staff and pupils Children in Need dance
Thursday 13th Nov – Male staff leg waxing event
Friday 14th Nov – pupils non – school uniform day, staff fancy dress, Karaoke

The children at St John Baptist High School Aberdare are described by the staff there as ‘the most generous pupils ever, they are so aware of children and adults who are less fortunate, that they get involved and give generously. On the week of events they had an amazing time, and enjoyed each event’.

The week before Children in Need, the pupils at the school also raised £1,000 for Cancer Awareness.
