Last Friday saw the exciting final of the Tranmere Rovers Primary Boys Football Tournament. The tournament has been running for several weeks with 36 school teams taking part from Ellesmere port and The Wirral. The tournament has been of a very high standard with the teams eagerly battling it out to make it to the next rounds. There has been some exceptional football skills on display from the budding footballers.

It was a very close result where spectators watched St Joseph’s Catholic Primary, Birkenhead beat Poulton Lancelyn Primary 1-0. A huge congratulations goes out to the winning team, St Josephs Catholic Primary – it was a well deserved result and a demonstration of good team work.

New Directions Education in Wirral have sponsored this competition for several years as part of their commitment to supporting their local community.

Jen Morrison, Wirral Primary Account Manager at New Directions Education has enjoyed working closely with Tranmere Rovers and all of the local schools involved to help make this tournament possible. Jen comments ‘The final was very exciting and all teams played amazingly despite gale force winds and a bit of rain! I would like to thank everyone involved for giving 100% and everyone involved deserves a big clap. It is a great privilege for me to work alongside Tranmere Rovers in their school community projects – supporting local schools and projects is something New Directions Education feels strongly about. I am looking forward to coming out to all the schools involved and presenting the players with their certificates. I am also looking forward to awarding St Josephs’ Catholic Primary (Birkenhead) the winners trophy! Well done everyone’.

The final took part on Friday 20th November 2015 at Weatherhead High School.
