Leading Welsh recruitment and training experts New Directions were last night announced as ‘Compliance Team of the Year’ at a ceremony in London.

The Women in Compliance award, presented by the BBC’s Louise Minchin heralds serious ambition from the firm. In 2014 the award was won by leading telecoms operation Orange and in 2015 internet search engine giants Google.

The awards celebrate the achievements of female compliance professionals and the success of the compliance industry through diversity, recognising and rewarding the outstanding contribution that women make every day in the world of business.

Speaking about the award Leah Seltzer, Group Head of Compliance and Quality Assurance for New Directions said ‘words cannot express how delighted we are to receive this award. To be shortlisted was an absolute honour; to win the award with such tough competition was out of this world’.

New Directions faced competition from Accenture, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, GE-SBI Card, Monsanto, NFU Mutual, Williams Lea and Yorkshire Water.

This comes as the third award New Directions have won so far this year. Ruth Dalton, Group Head of Communications and Marketing for the business added ‘our teams work ridiculously hard to ensure that we provide the best services to our customers. We want them to be recognised, and this particular award does just that. In terms of motivation for the team, to be celebrated alongside Google and Orange is just fantastic’.

The Welsh business provides recruitment and training services to the education, care, pharmaceutical and commercial sectors. In 2015 the Compliance Team launched an online product for organisations to apply for criminal record checks – onlinedbs.co.uk, this and the appointment of Wales first dedicated Safeguarding Officer has contributed to team success at the awards.

The team will also be represented in April at the Cardiff Regional Awards where they are finalists in the ‘Recruitment Agency of the Year’ category.
