Congratulations to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary School, winners of the West Widnes Championship and will go on to play in the final on Thursday 16th June.

Participating schools, St Basils, St Michaels Catholic and Oakfield displayed some fantastic rugby on Friday afternoon. All schools were invited to stay to watch the Widnes Vikings play Warrington Wolves in the First Utility Super League and at half time complete a lap of honour once the winning trophy was presented.

Liam Clark, Community Coordinator comments on their partnership with New Directions, “This partnership is allowing us to offer schools within Halton the opportunity to take part in rugby coaching sessions and tournaments held at the home of the Widnes Vikings. It also allows us to develop our delivery into schools that we would not normally deliver to through the support provided by New Directions.”

We will be back there on Friday 29th April to watch the East Widnes Championship and would like to wish all schools taking part the best of luck.

Dan Lynch PR Coordinator of Moorfield Primary School, East Widnes says, “We are excited to be playing this Friday the 29th at the Select stadium. This is a very good opportunity for the children to take part in and play in such an inspiring setting. Here at Moorfield we are a very rugby minded school and have lots of after school rugby clubs. Additionally a number of our students take part in clubs that are within the local community. The students are so excited to get the opportunity to walk around the pitch at half time in front of all the Widnes fans.”
