Emily Tune Half Marathon News item

Two of New Directions’ brave employees, Emily Tune and Sophie Panagopoulos, are taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 25th March 2018 in support of their friend who is running the Full London Marathon.

The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a brand new, closed road, central London run. It is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster. 10,000 runners will start on Pall Mall, finish by Downing Street and have fabulous views of London’s most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye.

This will be the first time that Emily and Sophie will run the half marathon, only running a much shorter 10k race 3 years previously. They are just about to start training with only 70 days to go so have a huge task to get ready in time for this race.

One of the main reasons they are running the half marathon is to tick off an item the bucket list, and what better way to do that than to raise money for a fantastic charity at the same time.

The chosen charity is the well-deserved Barnados. They support the UK’s most vulnerable children and young adults’ at the most difficult times. Helping 250,000 children and young adults per year, lots of services are provided every day by Barnardo’s. Counselling is provided to children who have been abused, have disabilities and mental health, encouraging them to their full potential. They will stand up for them, support them and most importantly, believe in them.

This is a very personal charity for Emily and Sophie as they know a family very close to them who has been supported by Barnado’s in the past, as so many families today are. They are hoping to raise £700 for their chosen charity.
