With community being one of our core values at New Directions Education, we are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with the Cardiff City FC Foundation, which supports children, young people and families in South Wales to achieve their full potential through a range of programmes.

This year, we have teamed up again to sponsor the Premier League Primary Stars tournament, which gives primary school children the opportunity to experience life as a Premier League footballer for a day, competing with teams representing the 20 Premier League clubs and sporting their own Premier League kit.

It’s a fantastic event for our schools to be involved in, and this year, the tournament was entered by over 150 teams from across South Wales who competed in the regional competition in Cardiff. Following the knock-out stages, Pentrepoeth Primary School battled to the finals of the mixed tournament and Millbank Primary School reached the finals of the girls-only category. Both teams worked hard to qualify after the intense regional knockout stages, which is a fantastic achievement in itself!

Tuesday 21st May was a particularly exciting day for pupils from Pentrepoeth Primary School and Millbank Primary School. The pupils travelled to Molineux – home of the Wolverhampton Wanderers – to compete in the finals of the annual under-11s tournament. As Premier League club finalists, they went head-to-head with the other 19 teams , representing ND Education and Cardiff City FC, while sporting their Bluebirds kit.

It has been an eventful, memorable and victorious day for the pupils in Molineux and we are thrilled to be involved in giving these children the opportunity to access competitive sport outside of the classroom!
