New Directions Education are recruiting for compassionate, resilient and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs within local Primary specialist provisions, starting January 2026.

We want to hear from individuals who:

• Have experience/understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to behaviour support.
  • Are Team-Teach trained or Positive regard trained.
  • Demonstrate a calm, nurturing and patient manner when supporting children.
  • Possess strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

The role will involve:
• Providing 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with SEMH needs, promoting emotional   regulation and engagement in learning.
• Assisting the class teacher in creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
• Implementing individual behaviour and learning plans.
• Encouraging social interaction, confidence and independence.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and parents to achieve the best outcomes for the pupil.
