As you may be aware, the UK Government has confirmed that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will include Agency Workers, providing the qualifying criteria is met.

Whilst some information has been provided to businesses, there is still no confirmation as to when this scheme will be live other than the Government expects it to be up and running by the end of April. They have also not yet confirmed the mechanisms for submitting the relevant information, full details on calculations when making claims or how quickly payment will be made once the claim is submitted.

We anticipate that this information will be made available to businesses over the next few weeks. In order for us to utilise this scheme, we need to identify the criteria under which Agency Workers would qualify for the scheme and are suitable to be furloughed and we await further guidance from the government to clarify these criteria. Where individuals are subsequently identified as being suitable to be furloughed based on further guidance, we will contact you over the next few weeks to agree to amend your contract with us to make you a furloughed worker.

We appreciate that this is a worrying time for everyone and would like to reassure you that we are doing everything that we can to continue to provide you with assignments where possible, or alternatively access the financial support put in place by the UK Government once it becomes available. As soon as we have any updates, we will share them with you.

In the meantime, we would ask that wherever possible, you do not contact us so that our team are able to deal with supporting our Schools and Key Workers. We will contact you in relation to the Job Retention Scheme, once we have taken the necessary preparatory steps to identify suitable Workers. However, if you do have an urgent need to get in touch, please contact your Account Manager in the first instance.

We are in unprecedented times and we understand that many of you have concerns about whether you qualify for the Employee Retention Scheme, which was recently announced by the Government, and in particular what it means for you.

We are in continual contact with various Government bodies and some Unions seeking guidance and advice on these measures and what we can do as a company to provide support to our valued candidates. At present, we have been advised there is little detail about the support for candidates, but more information is likely over the next few days from the Government. As soon as we have this information, we will share it with you, but in the meantime, please be assured, whatever we need to do in accordance with the advice, will be done.
