Job Description

New Directions Education are proud to be working alongside the largest schools in the Caerphilly area and are recruiting on their behalf, Additional Learning Needs teachers to work on a supply basis. As one of the preferred suppliers in the area, New Directions are seeking teachers in Key Stage 1 classes either on a day to day supply basis or on a long-term basis which could lead to a permanent contract. These positions are rewarding as well as challenging, teaching children with special educational and complex needs.

New Directions is also committed to your learning and development and offer a variety of online courses which are accredited and a certified. There are around 50 courses to choose from so you can decide which is of interest to you and can be completed in the comfort of your own home. We also offer essential on-site training such as PRICE, First Aid and British Sign Language provided by well recognized professionals in our brand new Llanishen office. On the day of the training we provide free on-site parking or we are close to public transport and free lunch to all attendees.

Job Specification

Your role as a Key Stage 1 (KS1) Primary Teacher in the age group of your speciality will be varied and at times challenging. But we doubt you’ll find a more satisfying career where your main objectives will be to develop the children and prepare them for the next stage.

As a Primary School Key Stage 1 Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
