New Directions is currently recruiting for a number of ALN Teaching Assistants to work with our Primary/Secondary schools in the Torfaen area on a 1-1 basis. There are multiple positions available, including long term and part time, day to day supply.

You will be expected to help pupils with a variety of needs. We are looking for someone reliable, passionate, and dedicated to providing continuity for these wonderful children.

You will need a minimum of 3 months child-based experience, and an enthusiastic attitude to help support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.

You’ll work directly under the supervision of the teacher, and also be expected to help in preparing the classroom for lessons. This may involve a variety of activities such as photocopying worksheets, setting up art equipment, weighing out ingredients, preparing computers, rearranging the furniture for a particular activity and so on. The right candidate should be able to provide a creative and exciting learning environment whereby pupils are motivated and encouraged to show ambition, to maximise their potential, and to embrace all aspects of school life in order to develop a wide-ranging skill set.

Job Requirements include:

• A passion for raising student expectations and achievements
• The ability to build strong working relationships with staff and pupils
• The ability to remain up to date with educational developments and changes whilst undertaking the role
• Eligible to work in the UK
• In possession of a clear DBS with the update service and registered with the EWC
