Job Description

New Directions Education are looking to recruit an ALNCO to work as part of a new start-up within Flintshire with an immediate start.

The ideal candidate should have excellent organisation and communication skills, relevant ALN experience and qualifications, qualified to write IDPs and the understanding of how a business runs.

Job Specification

The right candidate should be able to contribute along with the Senior Leadership Team (the Head and Deputy Head Teacher) to:

  • Monitoring the implementation of polices and procedures
  • Taking assemblies
  • Assisting in devising Timetables and Rotas
  • The management of staff
  • Developing good relationships with parents and stakeholders
  • Staff training, Induction, Job Coaching and Performance Management
  • Implementing the School Improvement Plan
  • Take such part as may be required in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the school.
  • To lead staff in planning for IEP’s and PCP’s. Support staff in setting targets for pupils.
  • To complete annual reviews for statemented pupils
  • To develop the implementation of the PCP
  • To develop strategic plans for ALN for which identify clear targets, timetables and success criteria, in the context of the School Improvement Plan and inform the Governing Body.
  • To be accountable for the development of strategies that raise the attainment of AEN, MAT, eFSM and disadvantaged learners and contributes to raising standards for all.
  • Lead staff training in Achievement for All.
  • To manage and monitor the impact on pupil outcomes for specific groupings.
  • To develop the smooth transition of ALN, MAT, eFSM and disadvantaged learners from one Key Stage / Year Group to the next.
  • Advising and collaborating with the headteacher and leadership team on curriculum development.
  • To advise on the continuity and progression of the curriculum.
  • To co-operate and prepare teaching and assessment materials, resources etc.
  • To liaise with specialist support staff, ie. Advisory teams.
  • To demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development and training.
  • To support and coach the team that he /she is leading
  • To monitor the quality of planning, teaching and pupil’s progress across the whole school
