New Directions Education is currently recruiting resilient and committed Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist school in South Liverpool. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in a structured and nurturing environment.

  • Facilities include safe breakout spaces, sensory rooms, and on-site therapeutic support services.

The Role:

  • As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils who display challenging behaviour or require emotional regulation strategies.
  • Work closely with class teachers and behaviour leads to implement behaviour support plans and de-escalation techniques.
  • Support pupils in building positive relationships, improving engagement, and developing coping strategies within the classroom setting.
  • Help to manage transitions, maintain consistent routines, and encourage a positive and respectful learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Calm, confident, and compassionate, with the ability to build trust and rapport with pupils who may display distressed or disruptive behaviour.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs, in either education, youth work, care, or similar roles is highly desirable.
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service if not already completed.
  • Able to provide references covering the last 5 years.
