New Directions Education are recruiting a Caretake/Cleaner on behalf of Wat’s Dyke Primary School who are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Caretaker with some responsibility for cleaning duties, to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff.
The successful candidate must be a practical and self-motivated person with a positive attitude, who is able to use initiative in caring for our building and school site to a high standard.
The role of the Caretaker is for 10.5hrs per week during term time 7.30-9.00am and 5.45-6.15pm daily (with the exception of Friday duties from 5.15-6.15pm) – *out of term time hours to be agreed.
The person appointed will be responsible for keeping our school secure and will possess the ability to undertake minor maintenance repairs, checks and maintain operational systems, carry out safety checks as required and ensure adequate records are maintained. They will ensure the efficient removal of waste from the building and the grounds, including recycling, and ensure that the outdoors is kept clear of weeds, litter and debris.
As the main key holder, the person will also be responsible for daily unlocking and locking of the school. The person will attend the building as necessary outside of normal working hours in cases of alarm activation or other emergency and be available for additional hours during some school holidays for cleaning and maintenance.
The role of cleaner is for 13.25 hours per week during term time 3.00-5.45pm daily (with the exception of Friday duties from 3.00-5.15pm).
The successful applicant will organise the cleaning of the school interior to a high standard of cleanliness and ensure stocks are replenished as required.
Experience and qualifications desirable, however training can be given.
Caretakers will be responsible for looking after the school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school caretaker include: general maintenance and minor repairs, liaising with contractors, managing heating and alarm systems, security opening and closing the school, basic cleaning, and key holding.
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working well within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security. It is mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
