New Directions Education are looking to appoint a hardworking and reliable School Caretaker, to work on a relief basis in primary schools across the Wirral.
The positions available are long and short-term temporary, covering internal staff absences such as sickness and maternity. All applicants must be flexible and adaptable to work in different schools in the area.
The working hours are full-time, and can include split-shifts (e.g. 6am – 10am and 3pm – 7pm), with some requirement to work during school holidays.
Our clients are seeking proactive individuals with excellent practical skills and an awareness of health and safety. Previous school caretaker experience is highly desirable. Applicants without this experience will be considered, but must be able to demonstrate a background working in a building, maintenance or trades role with transferable skills.
School caretakers are responsible for overseeing the general upkeep, maintenance and security of the grounds and premises, and must be confident working both independently and as part of an estates team.
You will be assigned to an account manager to will support you through the recruitment and ongoing process with New Directions.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
