Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting a passionate and committed Engineering Teacher to work in a secondary school in Liverpool, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is enthusiastic about engineering, design, and technology, and who is motivated to inspire young people from a range of backgrounds, including a high proportion of Pupil Premium learners.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is committed to inclusive practice and keen to equip students with practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of real-world engineering applications.

The Role:

  • Deliver high-quality Engineering lessons at KS3 and KS4, aligned with the National Curriculum and relevant vocational or GCSE specifications.
  • Teach core engineering principles including materials, systems and control, mechanical and electrical concepts, CAD/CAM, and health and safety.
  • Support KS4 learners in meeting curriculum objectives such as designing, making, testing, and evaluating engineered products, understanding manufacturing processes, and applying maths and science to engineering contexts.
  • Plan engaging, practical lessons that develop problem-solving, teamwork, resilience, and independent learning.
  • Assess progress effectively and adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Engineering, Design & Technology, or a related subject at secondary level is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support Pupil Premium students and close attainment gaps.
  • Confident classroom practitioner with good behaviour management skills.
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide references covering the last 5 years.
