Job Description

We are looking to appoint an experienced school administrator to work in a long-term temporary position in a primary school in Bridgend. This position is due to start in May 2019 and the working hours are 8:30 – 16:00, term-time only.

Previous experience working in a school office is essential and all applicants must have an excellent knowledge of the School Information Management (SIMS), as daily use will be required and unfortunately no training is provided. The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable and confident in running the school office independently.

School administrators are responsible for:

  • Greeting visitors and issuing name badges
  • Answering the phone and passing on messages
  • Assisting senior staff with general admin duties
  • Logging attendance on SIMS
  • Collating dinner money on SIMS
  • Running reports on SIMS

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator to join the team at a local primary school and be responsible for the overall running of the school office.

Please note, all applicants must hold a Child-Only Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to pay for a new DBS.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of school office staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School office staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working working within an educational setting.
