New Directions are seeking a highly experienced School Administrator, to work full time in a Primary School in Cardiff. This is a temporary position covering sickness, due to start immediately. The working hours at Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm.
We are seeking a hardworking, enthusiastic individual who is proficient using the School Information Management System (SIMS). The successful candidate will be required to manage a very busy school office and will be solely responsible for updating student records using SIMS, running and creating reports through SIMS, logging attendance, lateness and updating registers using SIMS.
Previous experience with SIMS and Dinner Money is essential. Experience with FMS or any other finance packages is desirable.
Further duties will include:
- Being the first point of contact for visitors, parents and pupils
- Issuing name badges
- Collating dinner money and school trip money
- Banking and dealing with invoices
- General admin duties such as answering the phone, taking messages, responding to emails etc.
We require individuals who are flexible, adaptable and well organised and can work independently at the forefront of a busy school.
Please note, all candidates must hold a Child-Only Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or be willing to pay for a new DBS.
A school secretary has the responsibility to provide administrative support to the whole school.
The duties of a school secretary: receptionist duties including answering the phone and welcoming visitors, administrative duties including typing letters, sorting post, managing emails, dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS
School secretaries must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.
Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. It is extremely advantageous having working knowledge of SIMS system. Schools will expect all school secretaries to have a good standard of education, previous office work and experience working with children to some extent.
