Job Description

New Directions Education are currently registering Final Year Students for long and short term supply placements. We may be able to offer you work as soon as you finish your course or placement as an Unqualified Teacher and as soon as you get your certificates through we will be able to offer you work as a Newly Qualified Teacher. We are seeking Key Stage 2 Specialists to work in classes ranging from Year 3 to Year 6 in primary schools throughout the Swansea area. In order to get your file ready for you to start work as soon as possible we are able to begin the registration process immediately.

We welcome applicants who:

  • Have either just completed or are about to complete a Teacher Training course;
  • Have specialised in teaching within Key Stage 2 and are happy teaching any year group within the Junior Department;
  • Are able to deliver all aspects of the Key Stage 2 Syllabus and Key Skills Framework;
  • Are able to promote the ‘Cwricwlwm Cymraeg’ throughout the school and use incidental Welsh when appropriate;
  • Can confidently plan, deliver and assess lessons on longer term assignments;
  • Are able to work closely with other members of staff and the support staff within the classroom;
  • Seek the flexibility of supply placements through either part-time or full-time hours.

Undertaking supply placements is a great way for you to gain experience in a variety of schools and to see how different schools operate. You will also be able to observe and develop different styles of classroom management and learning techniques. New Directions Education are also able to offer you free training courses during school holidays to aid your Career Development and Guaranteed Pay Scheme contracts so that you have the peace of mind of a regular income.

Job Specification

Your role as a Key Stage 2 (KS2) primary teacher in the age group of your speciality will be varied and at times challenging. But we doubt you’ll find a more satisfying career where your main objectives will be to develop the children and prepare them for the next stage.

As a primary school key stage 2 teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
