New Directions Education are currently looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant ( HLTA) who can work in a large primary school based in Ellesmere Port. The successful applicant will need to provide support for pupils within Key Stage One, specifically year 2 on an ongoing full time supply basis.
As an experienced HLTA, you would be required to raise standards of achievement for all pupils and demonstrate advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing or managing classes. Encouragement for pupils to become independent learners is key along with providing support for their welfare.
Intervention and group work will also be involved within this role to provide support and learning for any under achieving pupils in core subjects. Good knowledge of the phonics programme Read Write Inc is beneficial to assist in individual/group learning.
The HLTA role adds further support to those teaching in a classroom environment. The post is more senior than a Teaching Assistant, and comes with added responsibilities.
A HLTA may be required to teach classes on their own at times, or cover planned absences to allow teaching staff to plan and mark.
To become a HLTA you must have experience as a teaching assistant. You will also need the support of your school and senior staff.
