New Directions are currently recruiting for Higher Level Teaching Assistant’s (HLTA) for work in the Vale of Glamorgan. New Directions currently work with schools in the Vale of Glamorgan to help with their short and long-term supply requirements. We are looking for adaptable and reliable Higher Level Teaching Assitant’s to support schools in their community.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant’s play a crucial role in ensuring learners are achieving the best that they can. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will be expected to support the teacher with whole class learning, group work and supporting individual learners.
Supply work offers a fantastic opportunity to manage your own diary and network with schools in your area. Working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant will mean you can work in different settings and work with schools that adopt your ethos.
New Directions offer full support for our staff. You will have a designated point of contact who will get to know you and your requirements. We offer free training opportunities including Team Teach, Mindfulness and Well-being, Mental Health First Aid and Impact Wales Curriculum training.
The HLTA role adds further support to those teaching in a classroom environment. The post is more senior than a Teaching Assistant, and comes with added responsibilities.
A HLTA may be required to teach classes on their own at times, or cover planned absences to allow teaching staff to plan and mark.
To become a HLTA you must have experience as a teaching assistant. You will also need the support of your school and senior staff.
