New Directions is extremely busy across the Halton area, and we are currently recruiting for HLTA’S to work in a variety of primary schools based in the heart of Runcorn.
Under the direction of a teacher, HLTAs often plan, prepare and deliver learning activities with individual pupils, groups and (in the short term) whole classes, and also assess, record and report on pupils’ progress.
The schools are looking for the following – They want you to have high expectations of children and young people with a commitment to helping them fulfil their potential. Establish fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with children and young people.
The work available can be on a day to day or long-term basis, however you are able to state the type of work you are looking for, and your availability to work on a week-by-week basis.

The HLTA role adds further support to those teaching in a classroom environment. The post is more senior than a Teaching Assistant, and comes with added responsibilities.
A HLTA may be required to teach classes on their own at times, or cover planned absences to allow teaching staff to plan and mark.
To become a HLTA you must have experience as a teaching assistant. You will also need the support of your school and senior staff.
