Job Description

New Directions Education are looking to recruit a specialist Mathematics Teacher in the Wirral area. You will be expected to provide engaging and motivating lessons to students across key stages 3 & 4.  Your resources will need to be of high quality and should add to the schemes of work already being used.

Within the different teaching groups, you will have a variety of learning needs to cater for. Therefore, you will need to have a flexible approach and have the ability to differentiate your lessons appropriate to their needs.

You will be expected to provide a stimulating and academically rigorous teaching of Mathematics across key stage 3 and 4. You will need to keep up-to-date with current developments in content and methods of the subject, remaining familiar with external examinations.

All records should be accurately maintained as they will contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupil’s progress.

You would be expected to uphold the school’s standard for behavior both inside and outside of the classroom.

Job Specification

If you are a newly qualified teacher (NQT) or experienced maths teacher we offer roles which include delivering the curriculum in Key Stage 3 (KS3) to Key Stage 4 (KS4) with a possible work at Key Stage 5 (KS5).

As a maths teacher you’ll be expected to:

• Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
• Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
• Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
• Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
• Maintain discipline
• Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
• Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
• Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
• Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
• Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
