You will be supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis with Autism and mild behavioural difficulties. The successful candidate will need to have a strong understanding of Autism and be able to monitor the pupil’s behaviour to support the teacher in delivering lessons. Previous experience in supporting individuals with Autism would be beneficial.
You will have:
Strong knowledge of the Autistic Spectrum
A proactive attitude
Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
You will need:
A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
A willingness to complete mandatory training when required

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
