New Directions are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work in a school situated in the popular Newport area. The school require cover to support the class Teacher.
You will be required to work on a one-to-one basis with a pupil with Additional Learning Needs, and also in a group. The role will consist of working with pupils with both physical/medical difficulties and also emotional/behavioural difficulties. Therefore someone adaptable; with the ability to build a rapport and connection with the pupils is vital for the role.
The school is comprised of a wealth of support from staff and parents. It is easily accessible if you travel via public transport, but if you travel using your own vehicle there is parking available locally.
The successful candidate will possess the below attributes;
Experience working with children in a classroom setting or a care setting, we require three months as a minimum
The ability to work under instructions of the class Teacher but also use your own initiative. A real can-do approach is necessary for this job
A nurturing personality due to the nature of working with pupils with additional learning needs

To work in an Additional Learning Needs (ALN) role you will need:
Ideally experience working in an ALN environment or from a care background
An excellent track record
Flexibility and adaptability to work short-term and long-term.
