New Directions Education is currently looking for a learning support assistant (LSA) to work within a Secondary School in the Torfaen area. The School is looking for a candidate who has experience of working with pupils within Key Stage 3.
The successful candidate will have strong numeracy and literacy skills to help support pupils in the lower ability English and Math’s classes. It will involve both small group work and one-to-one support.
The position is 5 days per week, Monday to Friday and the hours are 8:30am-3:30pm. After school study clubs are held at the end of each term. This is to enable pupils to catch up on any areas they need additional support with thus flexibility regarding working hours is essential.

Duties of a Teaching Assistant
- Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Head Teacher, ALNCO and Class Teachers;
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress;
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities;
- Assist class teachers with maintaining student records;
- Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
