SEMH Learning Support Stockport Full-Time ASAP £425-£450 Weekly Pay (PAYE – No Umbrella Company)

New Directions is proud to be working with a well respected SEMH Provision in Stockport that is looking for a SEMH Learning Support. This role would suit a passionate educator with experience in similar roles such as Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Support Worker or Mentor. A strong ability to forge working relationships with hard to reach students is essential – as is the ability to deescalate challenging behaviour with secondary aged students. Experience of supporting teaching and learning is desireable but not essential.
Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:
Have excellent communication skills.
Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
To support teaching and learning in the classroom.
Be encouraging and supportive.
Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children’s development.
Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
Job Specification:
Supervise and provide learning support for students in small groups and on a one to one basis.
Support teaching and learning – at GCSE and Functional Skills level;
Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.
Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in activities.
Person Specification
Have experience working in the care, youth work, coaching or education sector
Have a strong understanding of SEND – specifically SEMH
Experience of de-escualting challenging behaviour
Be outgoing, fun and engaging
Willing to support children of all abilities and needs
Have experience of behaviour management and deescalation
Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
