My Client, a well respected school in the Mountain Ash area are currently recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with Intervention experience for a role with an immediate start. This is a long term placement for 26 hours per week, split over 4 days.
This will be a varied and challenging role where no two days will be the same. The structure of the day will be split, with mornings dedicated to Literacy Intervention and afternoons spent as a general teaching assistant in a Key Stage 2 class. The mornings will be spent providing Literacy Catch Up Interventions on both a one to one and group basis with children who require extra support with reading, spelling and aspects of speech, language and communication.
As this role is working independently away from the classroom, having the ability to make informed decisions and to work to your own initiative is crucial. Previous experience of delivering interventions and recording progress of pupils is also essential for this role. These qualities are needed alongside excellent teamwork and communication skills to provide informative tracked progress updates to the class teacher and also on occasion the wider ALN team, evidencing progression and suggested next steps for pupils.
Previous experience of working with Launchpad and also knowledge of Phonics would be advantageous. The afternoons of this role will be spent providing general classroom support to a key stage 2 class, this would involve general classroom duties, supporting the teacher as and when required and identifying children who need further support or assistance. Again the ability to work both alongside the teachers planning and be able to proactively support the pupil using initiative is essential.
To be considered for this position you will need to be qualified to a minimum standard of CACHE Level 3 or equivalent. Have experience delivering and recording literacy interventions accompanied by the passion and confidence to positively impact children’s educational experience. A background of working with Speech and Language delay or Dyslexia would also be looked upon favorably. Due to the needs of the children it is essential you can commit to this role for the rest of the academic year and potentially the year beyond.
