Job Description

New Directions Education are looking to recruit a qualified Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to work in secondary schools across Conwy. We are looking for an inspirational, passionate and innovative languages teacher who can channel their enthusiasm, creativity and energy into developing engaging and imaginative lessons to drive pupil engagement and progress.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of what effective teaching and learning looks like for children of all abilities and be committed to enabling all students to access the curriculum in order to fulfil their academic potential.

Job Specification

The main languages taught by modern foreign language (MFL) teachers include French, German, and Spanish.

Other languages taught include Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu and Bengali. There’s a shortage of teachers available in these priority subjects and a high demand for high-calibre talent to take on the challenge.

As a modern foreign language (MFL) teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
