New Directions Education are currently recruiting Newly Qualified Teachers who will be obtaining their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in July. If you are currently on placement, and wondering what steps to take after you graduate, please get in touch to discuss the opportunities available.

New Directions work with schools in the Vale of Glamorgan to support with their short and long-term supply cover. Supply teaching offers a fantastic opportunity to network with local schools and manage your own diary. Your dedicated Account Manager will get to know your requirements, and pro-actively endeavour to find work in schools that fit your ethos. New Directions have built excellent relationships with schools in the Vale, and are looking for committed, reliable and enthusiastic teachers to support them with staff absences. Supply requests are often ad-hoc and in line with school requirements. Short-term placements can often lead to medium and long term placements, and supply teaching is a great way to build positive working relationships with schools in your area.

New Directions offer the bespoke NQT support programme, which offers free support for your induction year. New Directions offer advice, webinars, and information that will aid completing your NQT portfolio on supply. You will have a dedicated NQT consultant to support you with your journey. New Directions also offer free training to support your continuous professional development.

We recruit newly qualified teachers (NQTs) for short and long-term teaching vacancies.

If you are looking for a teaching job in a school, whether you are trying to find a vacancy as a local primary or secondary teacher or eager to work in special educational needs (SEN), then New Directions would like to hear from you.

As a newly qualified teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
