Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to work on a part-time basis at a high-performing secondary school in Halton. This is a long-term position starting in September, with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent for the right candidate. ECTs are encouraged to apply.

The Role:

  • Part-time teaching role (days negotiable) delivering History across Key Stages 3 and 4, including support with GCSE preparation.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons that develop historical knowledge, critical thinking, and source analysis skills.
  • Contribute to the department’s strong record of achievement, and work collaboratively to inspire a love of History and deepen students’ understanding of past events and their relevance today.
  • Support pupils of all abilities, including those working towards high attainment and those needing additional scaffolding to achieve their potential.

The Ideal Teacher:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have recent experience teaching History at secondary level, ideally including GCSE.
  • Be able to provide a school-based reference within the last 5 years.
