New Directions are seeking experienced School Caretaker, to work on a relief basis in primary schools in Cardiff.
The nature of relief work requires a flexible individual, who is available to cover both long and short-term positions, providing temporary caretaker support to schools in the area. The ideal candidate will be reliable and adaptable to the needs of each specific school.
Primary school caretakers are required to work split-shifts and will be responsible for opening the school in the morning and locking up at the end of the day. Typical hours will be 7am – 10:30am and 3pm – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday. There will be a requirement to work during school holidays to provide access to external contractors working on-site.
Our clients are looking for hardworking, motivated and experienced applicants, with an excellent practical knowledge and a background working in building or maintenance with transferable skills. As a primary school caretaker, you will be required to work independently and be responsible for the general security, upkeep and safety of the school grounds and premises.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.

Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
