Job Description

New Directions are looking to appoint an experienced School Clerk, to work in a long-term temporary position in a primary school in Caerphilly. This position is due to start in June 2019 and the working hours will be Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3pm.

Our client is seeking a hardworking and diligent school clerk, who is professional and confident managing the primary school office. All applicants must have a previous experience using the School Information Management System (SIMS) and some knowledge of the Caerphilly financial management system OLAS would also be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Daily use of SIMS
  • Recording pupil attendance and lateness and contacting parents
  • Collating school dinner and school trip money
  • Being the first point of contact for parents, pupils and visitors
  • Answering the phone, taking messages and responding to school emails
  • General administrative duties as requested by senior staff

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced School Clerk to join the team at a local primary school and be responsible for managing the primary school office.

School secretary

We recruit school secretaries who are typically experienced in SIMS, and fully computer literate. You must be able to deal with confidential information, work on a variety of tasks, and deal with public and staff at all levels.


Candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities, or in a trade are of interest to us for caretaker roles. This is a responsible role within the school, often being a key holder where you could be required to work split shifts, as well as responding to security alerts on the school’s premises.


Schools often come to New Directions Education for catering staff to work in the school canteen. Ideally, you’ll have an up-to-date Food Hygiene certificate and also have experience in working in a catering role.
