New Directions are looking to appoint a hands-on, motivated School Caretaker, to work on a temporary supply basis in Primary and Secondary schools in Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare.
We are seeking applicants who are flexible and adaptable to the needs of each specific school, as the role will require working in various local schools covering long and short term internal absences.
The working hours will vary and Caretakers can often be required to work split-shifts, such as 6 am – 10 am and 3 pm – 6 pm. There will also be some requirement to work during half-term to assist contractors on site.
Previous experience working as a School Caretaker is preferred but not essential. All applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent practical knowledge and hands-on maintenance experience.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
