New Directions Education are looking to appoint a hardworking and experienced School Caretaker, to provide relief support to primary and secondary schools in Blaenau Gwent.
All applicants must be flexible, adaptable, and willing to work in different schools in the area, covering long and short-term temporary absences. The working hours are full-time, Monday-Friday, with some requirement to work during school holidays. Primary school positions can include split-shifts (e.g. 6am – 10am and 2pm – 7pm).
Our clients are seeking hardworking and reliable individuals, with excellent practical knowledge and an awareness of health and safety. Previous school caretaker experience is highly desirable. Applicants without this experience will be considered, but must be able to demonstrate a background working in a building, maintenance, or trades position with transferable skills.
The successful candidate must be confident working independently, to oversee the upkeep, maintenance and security of the ground and premises.

Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
