New Directions are looking for school caretakers for roles available in the Shropshire area. As a leading supplier to schools throughout the borough the successful candidate(s) would be considered for short or long-term, part or full-time assignments depending on availability and the requirements/preferences of the individual.
As a caretaker within a school you would be expected to assist in the maintenance of school premises, completion of repairs where possible and preparing the school facilities for specific events. The role can also involve being a designated key holder for a school site. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of health and safety procedures whilst being willing to take part in training and development opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role or in a position with clear transferable skills such as a trade or job in maintenance.
Those successful would initially be utilised for ad-hoc work, however, due to demand in the area, there would be potential for long-term and even permanent assignments.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
