New Directions are recruiting a flexible, reliable temporary School Caretaker to work in schools within Blackwood.
Due to the nature of relief work, the successful candidate should be adaptable and willing to carry out the role in various schools upon request. The position would be covering temporary absences such as long and short term sickness, on occasion, this could also include working split-shifts.
It is preferred but not essential that the successful individual has previous experience working within a school as a caretaker. Candidates that do not have this experience must have transferable skills and will need to demonstrate a strong maintenance/ property development background and fantastic awareness of health and safety.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
